We’re proud to share that VOKA has been named a Platinum Winner at the MUSE Creative Awards in the Video – Medical category for our 3D animation Granulocytopoiesis: Where Immune Cells Begin.

This award is a great recognition of the creative and scientific work behind the project — and of our approach to medical animation at VOKA, where medical expertise and visual storytelling come together from the very beginning.

About our project

Granulocytopoiesis explores how granulocytes, a group of white blood cells involved in the body's immune defense, develop inside the bone marrow.

The animation follows their development from early stages, including myeloblasts, through a series of maturation steps. Along the way, viewers can see how the cells change before becoming specialized neutrophils, eosinophils, and basophils.

Granulocytopoiesis presents a particular visual challenge as it takes place at a microscopic level. Our goal was to turn this complex process into something viewers could actually follow as it unfolds.

We separated the developmental stages visually so that changes in cell structure and organization could be seen over time. Detailed 3D cellular models, controlled movement, and camera work help guide the viewer from one stage to the next rather than presenting the process as a collection of disconnected images.

The result is a 3D scientific animation that can be used for medical education, scientific presentations, and other forms of communication where showing a biological process is more effective than describing it.

About the category

The Video – Medical category recognizes video projects that use creative visual communication to explore medical and healthcare-related subjects. It brings together work where scientific or medical information is not simply presented, but translated into a visual experience.

That distinction was particularly relevant to our project. Granulocytopoiesis is a process that happens inside the body and at a scale that can’t be observed directly. To communicate it effectively, we had to decide not only what information to show, but also how the viewer should experience it.

The Platinum recognition reflects the strength of that combination: a medically detailed subject presented through a creative 3D approach.

About the MUSE Creative Awards

The MUSE Creative Awards is an international competition that celebrates creative work across advertising, design, digital media, video, and other areas of visual communication. The awards bring together agencies, studios, brands, and independent creators from around the world.

MUSE recognizes projects at several levels, with Platinum representing the highest level of achievement in the competition.

For VOKA, being recognized by MUSE is especially meaningful because medical visualization sits at the intersection of science and creativity. A successful medical animation has to get the details right, but accuracy alone does not necessarily make a complex subject easy to understand or engaging to watch.
